Yes - Trying to purchase tickets can be a real monster, but there are some basics that will get you through the process a little faster, and will give you an edge over most people !

How about all of those magic tricks that brokers use - any chance I'll share those?...  Well sure !  The only real ~ Secret ~ in the ticketing industry is that there really aren't any...
No Magic ... Just Knowledge !!

I know - we've all heard stories, but for the most part they are just that - stories!   With the exception of a few notable and newsworthy exceptions ( newsworthy as in they were prosecuted and are in jail ) the vast majority - 99% or more, of brokers acquire tickets exactly as I disclose on this site.     They do not use ~ Special Programs ~ to illegally access sites such as Ticketmaster - they just know how to get in and out of the system quickly.  It's all about knowing how it works, and a little practice !

Well OK - we do have a small arsenal of tricks, so  - Here are a few to get you started !!

TRICK #s 1 - 10    Like most brokers, I am typically looking for a rather narrow range of seats to resell, and "throwing back" all others.   While I may not want Row 6 Center Orchestra seats, I'm sure that you would be glad to have them @ Box Office cost - right?... ( Be sure to read the Where Should I Sit page ! )
So - although I'll be showing you how to get through the system quickly, you do not have to be as fast as brokers.  Just like the guy you pay to change your oil, brokers have a lot more practice and are going to be faster than you.  Solution?   You just need to get a constant stream of searches rolling and look for those throw backs !!

TRICK # 11    Nearly every primary ticketing source will resort to a previously opened window in any given browser.  That is to say that if you have a window displaying tickets, and search with a second window, the second will display the same seats.   The easiest way to get around this is to use several different browsers.  I suggest using ( in this order ! ) Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer - open only one window of each.

NOTE : There are several programs that will disguise your IP address and allow you to use an unlimited amount of browser windows, most notably Broker2.0 ( Free - not very user friendly  ) and Insomniac ( $29.99 /mo - very user friendly, and with a little practice you could probably handle as many as six windows at a time ).

As of this writing ( 1/2012 ) the use of these programs - or multiple browsers in general, are legal, and do not violate TM's Terms Of Use.

If I am working with more than three browser windows, I am almost certainly pulling tickets for several shows and rarely have more than four windows dedicated to any given show.   So - unless you are buying and selling tickets for a living,  using the three different browsers as suggested will bring you the same results.

Since Ticketmaster / Live Nation handle the VAST majority of ticketing in North America, we're going to focus on them initially.

Looks like a lot of reading and complicated steps, but the process is actually rather fast and simple - I'll have you getting through the system in under 15 seconds in no time - read on !!
